Seagate FreeAgent 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Espresso Brown
I cannot urge you enough to look elsewhere for an external HD. These products are GARBAGE.

I bought this along with my new iPod (ironically because I have a smaller 120GB external from these guys that has been everything I could ask of it), intending to store my iTunes files on here, rather than using up all that space on my laptop's HD. So... I get the drive, burn about 250-300 cds onto the drive.... and it craps out. Data gone. Oh man, I was livid.

Seagate replaced the drive, which is fine, but they only replace broken drives with refurbs... so, you replace your broken drive with one that was ALREADY BROKEN. Why this didn't occur to me at the time, I don't know. And guess what they charge to recover data from broken drives? $50? $200? No!!! FOURTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! $1,400!!!! No joke. I've bought cars for less.

Anyway, I get the replacement drive, and this one lasts all the way through all _520 CDs_ I own. FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY CDS. I get them all stored on the drive, and I'm making

Western Digital My Book Home 500GB External USB 2.0/FireWire/eSATA Hard Drive
I got this product knowing very little about external harddrives.
I opened the box, took out the harddrive, and plugged it in.
Knowing how time consuming defraging can be I knew I had to partition the drive. It couldn't have been simpler.
I haven't had anything but good issues with this driive.

C100S Communicator USB VoIP Desktop Hands-Free - Grey
I'm sure just about everyone has heard of Skype. It is an Internet communication service that allows you to make free calls to other Skype users or very low cost calls to landline phones. This service utilizes your computer and a broadband Internet connection (although there are some new devices that no longer require a computer to make Skype calls) to establish communication with other Skype subscribers and landline phones through a peer-to-peer network. To fully utilize and enjoy Skype, the market is flooded with products that work with this service. One of these products is the C100S Communicator by Polycom.

The C100S Communicator is a portable speakerphone, which connects to your computer via a USB cable. This speakerphone does not require batteries or an external power supply. The USB connection supplies both the audio communication and power for the device. The lack of needing batteries or an AC power supply makes the C100S a very compact and perfectly portable device. In

LaCie Rugged All-Terrain 250GB External Hard Drive - 301291-250GB RUGGED HD USB 2.0 FW800 EXT 5400 RPM 8MB
The LaCie 250 GB Rugged Hard Disk with FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and USB2.0 is a great unit that is ideal for those with fire-wire ports built-in to their laptops and computers. Unfortunately while most Macs have fire-wire built-in, right now the majority of Windows based laptops do not. That is changing as more PCs are getting them built-in. I need drives for several computers, including Mac, Windows and Linux boxes. Suffice it to say that this drive is definitely a must own if you have a Mac and may even be worth installing a fire-wire card if you have a PC.

While it is no secret that I love my WD hard-drives, the LaCie drive definitely outperforms it in a few key areas. So depending on your needs, it may be well worth the small premium to pick up the LaCie.

Don't get me wrong, when it comes to value and best performance for your buck the Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive (Intense Blue) is a great option. Like the LaCie, it has a variety

Canon PowerShot G9 12.1MP Digital Camera with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom
I think that Canon may have created its own monster with the G series cameras. Far too many people think that they are going to get DSLR performance from what is essentially a point and shoot camera.

Sorry, but there is no free lunch. You can build a camera to high standards. You can have it save in RAW. You can do all sorts of things to improve it. The bottom line is that the G9 is a small-sensor camera and suffers the same fate as every other camera with a small sensor.

Given current technology, nobody can make a small sensor perform like a larger one. Going much beyond native ISO is going to substantially lower image quality by introducing digital "noise". That's just the way that it is and neither Canon nor anyone else has solved the problem. In fact, it may not even have a solution.

That said, the G9 may just be the best small-sensor, high-end p&s on the market. Granted, it doesn't have much competition, but Canon has itself a winner. You'll hear gripes from older G series owners

Samsung 67" 1080p Slim-Depth LED Engine DLP HDTV
This set is incredible. Brilliant color, fine detail, bright enough to use with the curtains open. Plenty of connections for just about everyone. Beautiful picture with HD TV channels (1080i), Playstation 3 games (most are 720p) and Blu-Ray Discs (1080p) are phenomal! This TV looks so good it has made me want to quit watching TV and go see the places they are showing!

DLP is the best bang for the buck. Excellent quality with the price of plasma or LCD. The LED Samsung sets take it one step further. No fan, no lamp, quiet, low-power, what more could you want?

Pioneer KURO 60" Class 1080p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
I ordered the PDP-6020FD from Amazon, even though the 6th Ave. price was a few bucks cheaper because I'd read about delivery problems with them. At $4049 with free white glove delivery, it was a great price. The unit shipped instantly and arrived two days early. The two guys who dropped it off were very nice, but they skipped the part about unpacking and checking out the unit. My wife, who was there to accept, was not aware that they owed us that. So that night we unpacked it to find the glass screen badly cracked. Called Amazon right away and they were very responsive and apologetic. They credited me the $103 white glove delivery cost, even though it was free to start with, then they shipped a replacement. It arrived within a week and was in perfect condition, just in time for the Olympics.

The unit itself is gorgeous, as many others have said. The Olympic opening extravaganza in 1080p on that giant screen was jaw-dropping. I have it hooked up through a new Pioneer VSX-1018 receiver that

Sony Blu-ray Disc Player - BDPS350
The Blu Ray player is wonderful. The picture quality is superb. You can believe all the hype they are giving it. Even the movies that are not Blu Ray are far superior viewed on Blue Ray.

Thanks for a wonderful product and for the ease with which we received it thru Amazon.

Sincerely,

Kathleen McIntosh

Linksys WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router
The device has the functionality as other people have covered and is in the product documentation. However I found its support of the 5GHz band is too flaky to be useful. Everything on 2.4 is fine. (Using latest B17 firmware).

On the 5GHz band you are fine if doing light web browsing etc, but about 5-10 seconds after you transfer bulk data the connection dies for about 60 seconds (confirmed using perfmon, wireshark and pings). For example copying a movie file from a camcorder starts at high speed and then fails. Doing the same thing on 2.4Ghz doesn't result in any issues, but is half the speed of 5Ghz and makes having a dual band device pointless.

APC BE550R Back UPS and Surge Protector for Home Computer
I've used APC battery backup units for years at home and in my offices. They, and ompetitors' backups are generally good whiile the battery lasts, but then comes the problem you will face. After about 1.5-2 years, the battery has died in my unit, and I decided not to buy a complete new whole unit, and called to buy a replacement battery, as APC advertises, is easy to replace for jusrt $29 or so.

I called APC today to buy the appropriate replacement battery, which is advertised for $29.95 on their website, however when I asked to buy it today, they said it was not available till Sept 27, over a month away!! NOT USEFUL AT ALL if you need a new battery NOW! The person helping me Quickly offered instead to sell me a new unit for a lot more than a battery, and I said "No dice".

She then told me I could easily get a replacement battery locally at Staples, and other Office Max/Lowes type places that sell their backup units. A call to three of them got no batteries, and one said "No

Samsung PN58A550 58" Widescreen Plasma HDTV with Full HD 1080p
After doing a good deal of research I decided on this set and couldn't be happier with my decision. I've mounted it on the brick wall above my fireplace and the picture is just beautiful. No glare problems at all. It does put out a lot of heat and make sure you have a couple of strong friends to help you mount it but this is the best value I found. You can't go wrong with this set and the entire Amazon experience was outstanding. I notice that the price has dropped $50 since I bought mine so I need to figure out how to take Amazon up on their price guarantee.

HP Officejet Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner/ Fax
I have not had this printer for very long, and it is not my primary printer. I purchased it because I was looking for a printer that had a copy function that would copy legal size paper and had an atomatic document feeder. The price on the newer ones with these features are out of my price range and the ink is more expensive. I have always enjoyed my HP products so that was another +. The fact that it can be used as a fax, copier and auxillary printer for the low price I paid makes it a winner in my book.

Sony Blu-ray Disc Player - BDPS350
I got tired of my old 300 and went with the 350. 100% better player. My Blu-ray disc look as I would expect them to do finally. My Toshiba XA2 blows away the Sony for upconverting SD DVDs but my Blu-ray discs look fantastic!

CyberPower CP850AVRLCD UPS - 850VA/510W Intelligent LCD Display AVR 9-Outlet RJ11/RJ45/Coax Tower USB/Serial
My home and home office contain many sensitive electronic devices. We have several personal computers, a PC server, NAS drives, routers, switches, printers, cordless phones, security system, etc. All of these things (and more) plug into the AC mains and are therefore vulnerable to voltage sags or spikes and the occasional power outage. When a person invests a lot of money in electronic hardware, it only makes sense to do everything you can to protect it. That is why I always discourage people from plugging these sensitive devices directly into the wall. I currently have a total of 10 UPS systems and two line conditioners in my home, which protect my most valuable computer, security and A/V equipment.

Over the years the cost of power conditioners and Uninterrupted Power Supplies has dropped drastically, and yet the overall reliability and performance of these have improved a great deal. A typical UPS used to be thought of as a simple battery backup device. But today the majority

SanDisk 8 GB Cruzer Micro USB 2.0 Drive with U3 SDCZ6-8192-A11 (retail packaging)
Got this 8GB Cruzer as an upgrade from my good, old, 1GB Cruzer. Same form factor, better speed, same annoying U3 (easier to remove this time).
Most annoyingly, the thing always has a "look-at-me and get distracted from your work" feature: it does not stop from either dimming in and out (when idle), or blinking (when accessing files on it).
Do not buy, unless you can plug it in an out of sight USB slot. If, like me, you use the slot on the side of the laptop, keep looking. I got an "off brand" one - same speed (measured by myself), no U3, no "look-at-me".

Pioneer KURO 60" Class 1080p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV
First of all, this TV has excellent picture quality. The deep levels of black truly create very deep colors. The black bars at the top and bottom of some movies are almost invisible as if the picture was floating in the air if you view in a dark room. A very well engineered product.

Amazon's delivery was top notch. I ordered on Thursday night and received it on the following Tuesday. The delivery guys were careful not to damage the TV or my floors. They waited until I was sure that the TV was in working condition before leaving.

The only negative is Pioneer's QC. The TV arrived with what appeared to be a sweaty handprint on the top right portion of the screen with a salt stain where sweat ran down the TV. With a damp cloth I was able to remove most of it. It is still slightly noticeable, but only if you look very closely. Certainly not worth returning.

Overall, this is a great product that I can easily recommend.

Samsung 67" 1080p Slim-Depth LED Engine DLP HDTV
This is my second Samsung in the last couple of years. I wanted to get something new that supports HDMI 1.3a deep color so I sold my HL-S6187 to a friend and bought this set. Everything about it is great. Just did a few initial tweaks to dim down the brightness and the picture quality is just amazing. I have had the set for over a month now and still no complaints. Can not comment about the internal speakers since I have a home theater setup. Highly recommend this set to anyone looking for a large screen size but do not wish to spend $$$ on it.

HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni Printer (CC378A#ABA)
After reading positive reviews on the HP site, I thought this printer was a perfect match for my needs. This heavy printer was easy getting my computer to recognize the printer but once I hit print, that was where all the problems began. The drums made a loud screeching sound and the first page was a solid red with black ink. From there, nothing could print without streaking or blurring. Even after cleaning the drums, horrible print, page after page.
Now, more than one week later, support services have delayed exchange, so much for "next business day," so currently am looking for another printer.
Obviously, this new design has flaws. Someday day, it might become a great printer but I would not purchase at this time and save yourself aggravation. Wished we could have read someone's honest opinion about this product. My opinion has yet to show on HP's site.
