Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System
Let me start by saying that this is my third speaker system that I have owned for my Gateway PC.

I started out using the speakers that came with the computer system itself which is actually a speaker bar that mounts under my 24" monitor. Those speakers are OK for basic use, but being the electronics geek that I am and appreciate great sounding music and movies, I quickly realized that 6 watt speakers mounted to a speaker bar was not going to cut it. The good thing about this speaker bar is that it does have simulated 3D sound which does sound kinda cool when watching movies.

OK, so it was time to upgrade and decided that I wanted to get a great sounding system with lots of bass and clean sound. I also decided that surround sound was not very important (at the time) and settled on the Logitech Z-2300 2.1 set up. I figured that when watching movies, since the set up had so mch power, It would be good enough for me. Purchased them, had them for a few months and let me tell you, LOVED

Yamaha 550W 5.1-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver
The receiver produces great sound and has pretty much all the hook ups you could need. I have had some trouble with the onscreen display and programming the sound fields. Overall, this is a good receiver but can be difficult to use for the novice (or even slightly advanced) user.

Samsung 1200W 5.1-Ch. XM-Ready Home Theater System with Upconvert DVD Player
I went out on a limb and bought this product to go with my new samsung 52" HDTV. And it rocks! I originally was looking at doing high end individual pieces with speakers from fluance that everyone raves about, but since Im not an uber techie who reviews the likes of bose and hangs out in professional sound studios, this system more than does the job. Whats really great is the Anynet device feature that syncs up my tv to the home theater system. I also thought that having the rear speakers be towers would be better but Im quite pleased with the way I have my little guys arranged and they certyainly deliver good sound, even remotely.

The downside, not that it really matters, is that while you can sub in 16 gauge copper wire for the front 3 speakers, you have to use the supplied wires for the erars as they have specially designed adapters for the uplink box. But they still sound fantastic and the sub absolutely booms! My house is filled with sound and my movies look and feel amazing.

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
After having owned a dinosaur Yamaha amplifier combination that I bought when I was in the army 25 years ago, I was pleased with my purchase of this unit. I was so pleased with the quility of the C-4/M-4 combination that the Yamaha YHT-390 was the logical choice for me. It has inputs and outputs galore. Many you wont need, but the choices of types of signal input and output are great. I chose this unit for the HDMI cable input which allows a simple single cord from each of your components and TV. I have it mated to a Vizio 37" LCD and a Yamaha HDMI DVD unit. AM and FM reception are superb with the included antennas and 40 preset stations. There are many options of speaker choice from 2 channel straight stereo to 5.1 surround sound and there are 2 separate speaker outs for my massive old dinosaur speakers. Make certain to get the cables you need from Amazon as they are without a doubt the best price anywhere. In addition to HDMI cables, you may need a toslink cable and a coaxial audio cable

Yamaha 550W 5.1-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver
This receiver is relatively inexpensive. The unit is on the small side, and can easily fit on shelves found in a typical stereo cabinet. On the plus side, the volume is easy to control because the large knob. Also, treble/bass are easy to control because you push a "tone control" button, followed by pushing one of two buttons labeled "program." This allows separate adjustment of the treble and bass (like a junior version of an equalizer).

The front of the unit has a socket for inputting a headphone jack. But on the minus side, there is no socket for inputting a microphone or for inputting an electric guitar cord. My old Pioneer amplifier, circa 1973, has a socket for inputting a microphone or electric guitar. But the Yamaha unit does not have this type of socket.

On the negative side, the unit has a button that changes the ambiance of your music. In other words, it can change the music to sound as though it was being played in a large concert hall. This is pretty silly, as this

Samsung 1000W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System with Upconvert DVD Player
the main image for this product is 2 tall speakers for the front and 2 small rear speakers.. WARNING... that is not what you get.

you will receive 4 small speakers.. the main image is actually the (HT-Z410T)

but this product works great

Sound,look, upscale = great

sound cable length = could be better

i recommend this, if you going to go wireless or if you dont mine splicing some cable so your rear speakers...could actually reach the "rear"

Samsung 1000W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System with Upconvert DVD Player
Purchased this system with a Samsung 40" HDTV and am very pleased with both. We had a 32" Phillips and Sony 5.1 100w receiver with a powered sub woofer. The new sound system is perfect for our small family room (14x20') and the speakers, while tiny, fill the room and are barely noticable. Comments as to wire length, gage and non-generic fittings are all true but for me, were not a problem in setting up or wall mounting the speakers. Handle with care, since it is thin plastic.

I did buy the SWA-3000 remote amplifier which really cleaned up the installation. It was a refurbished unit and came without directions. (NOTE: the reset of the SWA-3000 is tricky and Samsung level 1 tech support was useless)

Since we have digital cable, I had trouble with coordinating all 3 remotes so I purchased a Harmony 550 which allows the use of one single remote. Logitech support will walk you through the set-up to customize for your specific needs. This way, the TV does not turn on when I play a CD or listen

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
I spent months picking a stereo system, reading reviews, listening to different systems at big box stores, and ultimately settled on this one.

The reason is simple: this 5.1 system sounded better than any other I tested, even those that cost twice as much! The sound quality of this system is simply amazing at this price. You could drop 3x as much on a Bose system and be less satisfied.

Pros:

3 HDMI inputs with full 1080p pass through. Have a lot of devices? No worries. You can connect a game console, a cable box, and a DVD player, all with zero loss of resolution and picture quality. There are more expensive systems that lack this feature.

Amazing sound quality. This system has a powered sub woofer, which is a MUST for high quality, deep bass. Other systems in this price range lack this feature. The speakers are solid wood construction. Although not glamorous, they feel so much better than plastic, and will still be around when cheaply made plastic bodied speakers are in a land fill.

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
I decided to go with the Yamaha 590bl after several weeks of research on Yamaha and Onkyo HTIBs in the 300 to 600 price range. I was a little apprehensive as there weren't too many reviews to be found on this particular model, but seeing and hearing it at one of the local electronic stores convinced me.

I received the system yesterday, and spent a few hours wiring and setting it up to suit our den - there are quite a few setup options and you can tailor it to perfectly match the room and your listening taste - the customization is really neat once you figure it out. I have it connected to a 46" Sony LCD and a JVC progressive scan DVD player through the component video and digital coaxial hookups, and plan on using the optical inputs for connecting the HD DVR to the Yamaha. Took a while to do all this, but once everything was up and running, boy was I amazed. I've already watched the battle scenes in Gladiator and Saving Private Ryan multiple times and still can't get over how awesome

Philips HTS3151D/37 300 Watt DVD 5.1Surround Sound Home Theatre System with Ipod Dock
This is a good system to buy. You get a good value for the money you spent. This is good for small to mid size rooms. Also comes with IPOD dock and speakers are small enough.

Yamaha 550W 5.1-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver
Good receiver for the money. Nice options with one-touch pre-program on. Could use one more HDMI IN, but not major. I was having a major issue playing cable box source. The receiver hates dealing with resolution changes on the fly sent from TWC box. Going back and forth between 480-720-1080 can create just static and flashing. I thought the item was defective but new replacement did the same thing. SET YOUR CABLE SOURCE TO ONLY 1080. Deselect 480 and 720 outputs. The box must upsample or something. This way the receiver doesn't have to deal with the issue. Never an issue when this is done and all other sources play fine. Made my heart stop the first time since the $2K TV was also new. Glad it was the receiver and Amazon replacement process was good. Remote is decent too. Overall 4 stars.

Sony 998W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System w/ 5-Disc Upconvert DVD Player
The sound is OK. The logic of the functions is the problem. It has a 5 disk holder but, whats the use. If your playing a cd and you want to put another cd in bay 2 the music stops. If your listening to FM and you open the cd drawer the music stops. Sony gets this stuff wrong all the time. There's no aux input in the back so my turntable can not be used. The ipod dock works pretty good I'm pleased by how it works.

Pioneer 600W 5.1-Ch. Apple iPod /Satellite Radio-Ready Home Theater Receiver
I guess I went into the purchase of this receiver with expectations set far too high.I have owned Pioneer receivers for years and was saddened by the death of my Pioneer vsx-608D.I really liked that unit alot.It came out in 1999.It did have Dolby Digital 5.1 sound with DTS.When I got this new 918 hooked up I was very happy with the sound of Dolby Digital and DTS movies. They sounded fabulous.I do however like to listen to music alot. When I switched to the cd input I thought my powered subwoofer had stopped working.I tried everything I could think of to get the bass level up.I made sure the Plus setting was turned on.This setting makes sure that bass signals sent to the large front left and right speakers are also sent to the subwoofer.I ran the auto set-up where you hook a microphone up to the system and it goes through a series of test tones to determine the best set-up for your room.Well, after going through this, all I heard was a trace of bass.I turned on the midnight setting and noticed

Yamaha 550W 5.1-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver
I was going through a little hell with a pioneer vsx-918v.I noticed one of the other reviews on this Yamaha also mentioned that Pioneer model as well.I could get alot of bass from the pioneer for dolby digital and dts movies but hardly a trace with the cd setting. After spending countless hours on the phone with several tech support people,I was told that the pioneer is not designed for stereo music and that was why I wasn't getting any bass with my cds.I really don't understand this explanation.I am really happy with this receiver after returning the Pioneer to Best Buy.It pretty much does everything I need it to do.It has wonderful bass on my cds which has given me more confidence in the newer receiver models out there. The only thing I wish it had is a switched ac input on the rear of the unit. This Yamaha does not have this. But the Yamaha is heaven compared to the Pioneer.Yamaha RX-V463BL 525 Watt 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver

Samsung 650W 5.1-Channel Home Theater System
I bought it to connect my PS3 and DirecTV H20 receiver together with my Samsung TV. I am really happy with the Samsung TV so I figured the Reciever would be a similar experience. I was upgrading from a Yamaha system I bought at Best Buy.

The sound clarity is actually really good and the controls and setup is easy to do. The fact that Amazon offered free shipping while everyone else wanted $80+ for that was awesome.

The first one I got from Amazon had an issue with the HDMI not working. I filled out the online form on Amazon to have it replaced and they shipped out a replacement ASAP and had a tag printed for the return.

Buying from Amazon...It's way better than Best Buy. I think I'll buy all my electronics from here now on :-)

Samsung 650W 5.1-Channel Home Theater System
I purchased this product to connect to a Samsung hdtv and a Samsung upconverting dvd player. The remote controls all three (because they are all samsung) and when I put my first dvd in it turned on the tv and chose the correct reciever setting without even pushing a button. I was pretty impressed by this.

Even though this is the first surround sound system that I have owned, it only took me about 45 minutes to set up. It still needs some tweaking, and I still need to hide the rear speaker cords, but I am very pleased with it so far. Nice design, looks sleek and elegant and the sound is awesome. I was glad that this system uses standard speaker wire (not plugs) so you can easily purchase more wire and run it around the edges of the room.

The size was larger than I expected on both the reciever itself and the sub so people with small rooms may want to double check the size specifications.

I would recomend this reciever to anyone because of the simple setup and great sound right

Sony BRAVIA 1000W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System w/ 5-Disc Upconvert DVD Player
I have been in the market for several months for a new home theater after we moved into a new house. To get my old unit's rear speakers to the back of the room would be a big undertaking and I am not ready to do that just now. So it came down to a wireless rear speaker system or just a 2 front speaker system like the 3-2-1 Bose. I read all reviews--half loved the wireless and half said they did not work. Ended up deciding to try the Sony DAV-HDX576WF. I am extemely satisfied with the system. The wireless speakers never have interference and sound great. (With the caveat--obviously they don't have the sound like my son's built in the ceiling $3000 speakers/system that shake the room). But for my needs they work perfect and I highly recommend the system.

Sony 500W 5.1-Ch. A/V Home Theater Receiver
I am an otherwise tech savvy consumer who was temporarily confused after buying this AV receiver. Having purchased my last receiver in 1991 I was only peripherally aware of some important things to note.
1. As stated in another review here (I wish I read it before buying) this receiver doesn't decode Dolby audio over HDMI, a.k.a. HDMI pass through. The manual doesn't explicitly say this--it uses the term pass through but not the part about requiring separate audio. While HDMI normally carries video and audio, using HDMI with this receiver will only give you video (unless you turn dolby off, but that makes all your speakers expensive dust collectors). I was using an HDMI cable, for example to connect my HD DVR to my TV. When I ran an HDMI cable to the receiver and then from the receiver to the TV I had video but no picture. When I asked the magnolia people in best buy (where I bought it) if I might have something hooked up wrong, they offered to schedule a home visit for $149. I**ots. There

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
I wanted a nice sound system to compliment my Sony 40-inch LCD screen. Originally I purchased Onkyo 3100, however, it did not have any HDMI connections and it would cause the video to stutter on programs in HD. I wanted the Onkyo 5100 but the speakers were simply enormous. I decided to go with Yamaha YHT-590 because of the receiver and the slim looking speakers. The installation took about 45 minutes as I had to cut and splice the thin looking wire (18 gauge). Once plugged in everything sounded excellent. Cannon fire in Master and Commander and the Pirates of the Caribbean was thundering and simply mind blowing. Depth charges in Das Boot...well you have to hear it to really appreciate it. :-).

One of the previous reviewers stated that the center speaker had to be turned down to hear the dialogue and such. Setup options in the receiver allow for numerous tweaks and options which you'll want to play with as the size of your room and the room acoustics will differ from user to user. I have
