Samsung 46" 1080p 120Hz Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
Researched for almost a year. I have a Panasonic ED Plasma from three years ago....that I paid 2300 for. I just wanted to upgrade to 1080, better pic etc. It came down to this and Panasonic TH-42PZ85U. Last minute measuring of my entertainment center made the choice easier as the panaconic was about 1" too big. HDMI picture is awesome. Sound from the TV is even pretty good. Better through DTS but pretty good. Amazon service was very good. A little fuzzy on some regular def channels, but I rarely watch those. Sooner or later those will turn to Hi def anyway.

Pic in Pic....is there a swap function? I don't think there is. If so, can someone please advise? I can't figure it out.

Also...is there an on/off switch on the TV itself? Please advise if there is. Can't find that either.

People complain about the remote....It is fine....I think people just need something to complain about. Now that I have all the settings done, I just use the Comcast remote anyway

Very happy.

Samsung 46" 1080p 120Hz Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I'm not a pro regarding televisions and certainly don't pretend to be. However, before buying this TV I did a lot of research (almost too much). This TV is amazing. The DVD upscaling from my ps3 blows my mind alone, then there's blue ray... amazing. I'll list a few pros/cons so I don't ramble on for too long:

PROs

1)blue ray and up scaled dvd's are vibrant.
2)gta iv and other ps3 games whether 1080 or 720 are beautiful and smooth
3)lots of inputs. 4 HDMI! Also, convenient connectors on side for quick setup.
4)turned off, the TV makes the room look sweet. The red isn't overwhelming in the least.
5)lots of options in menu. good for a variety of viewing options/environments
6)120 HZ is adjustable, necessary cause well... go to a store and see.
7)Although pricey, it's cheaper than comparable TVs

CONS

1)The remote is terrible. It's as if an ipod had a slow cousin. Minor pain.
2)Although I don't have issues with glare, it is possible to see how a house with lots of windows could be problematic.
3)It

Like most people on amazon, I researched tv's for months and months and i actually decided on the ln46a550 initially because it was more in my price range. The price of the ln46a650 dropped significantly since then (and continues to do so) so i returned the other one and purchased this one. I noticed a few key important upgrades. First of all sound. Yes, i have a surround sound (a very expensive surround sound, almost as much as the tv) but certain things i listen through the tv speakers and i have to say on the 550 it was absolutely horrible and i couldn't do it. This is not the case with the 650....believe it or not im actually listening to music on it and its very tolerable. If you plan to never use these speakers (i didn't plan on it initially) then ignore that upgrade. The next upgrade is on standard definition cable tv. On the 550 SD cable looked pretty much horrible and surprisingly quite good on the 650. If i wasn't familiar with HD components ( blu ray, HD DVD, HD cable....etc.)

I've owned this TV for over 10 weeks now. After spending much time at the big box stores looking at various TVs and doing research on what others said, I can now say after 10 weeks of ownership that this is the best TV on the market at it's price range.

The picture quality can't be beat. It has both a sharp picture and accurate colors. The blacks are the deepest in this price range. It is easy to use and easy to look at.

The only negatives are as follows:
1) The remote's wheel feature is difficult to use.
2) The reflection on the screen is significant.
3) My first TV had a dead pixel (but I returned it and the 2nd one is perfect)

I would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a LCD w/120HZ feature.

This is the best LCD TV I have ever seen. It really is that good. The black levels are great and the colors and clarity on HD material is stunning. It even does an amazing job on upscaled DVD from my PS3, colors are especially good. I also own another 37" LCD which is very good especailly for computer use, but this thing runs circles around it in the picture quality arena, less particles, almost no digital artifacting, awesome contrast, vibrant colors etc. You really have to see it to understand. It is also the best LCD screen I have seen for component material. I've always been dissappointed with LCDs in the past due to crushed blacks and muted colors via component, but this TV does a jaw dropping good job with component as well as HDMI. I've never seen my wii picture look so good.

The 120hz refresh actually does help. I did quite a few tests with it and it does help keep the screen smoother without any noticable sacrifice in quality. The connection to the internet is handy

I'm not very technical in nature so i won't get into that. What I will say is after doing my research I chose this TV and went and looked at it a best buy and I was sold. I have had the 50" Pioneer plasma for over a year and it's beautiful however, if an LCD was going to convert me, this would be one of them. More importantly, I would like to mention the experience of buying through AMAZON. I was sceptical paying all this money for a TV through the mail but I saved about $400 (including tax) from the local BB so I thought I would give it a try. In my case, when the TV arrived, the delivery guy brings it inside, opens the top half of the box, hooks it up to a scource to ensure it works and then left. Way more than expected. Now for the icing on the cake. I recently learned about AMAZON's post-order price guarentee. They will refund any reduction in price for 30 days after shipment and let me tell you, in my case it was like watching the stock market (4 price changes in a day). Anyway,

As with most electronics you get what you pay for. I did a lot a research for a good sized HDTV and the review consensus is that this new line of Samsung TV's have a better picture than the Sony's. I would have to agree (of course because I own a Samsung now). I have a PS3 hooked up for blu-ray and DirecTV for hidef satellite. Yes the picture can appear 'grainy' depending on the source and the quality of the original HD picture but with the correct settings you can hardly notice. Blu-ray planet earth even has a few spots where the picture quality wasn't as great as the other 96% of the show and if you nit pick you can see some pixelation. The AMP 120hz setting, I found, really does help when a mountain peak is moving across the screen. Use the 'demo' mode to see the difference when a large stationary object is moving across the screen.

You need to calibrate the picture for the source you're using to get the 'great' picture. There's a 1260+ post thread on the AVS forums dedicated

The TV is amazing. I looks like you're peaking through a window. It's more than the resolution (which is perfect), it is the depth of color and the motion. It is so real it takes a little time to get used to (and you can remove the effect if it bothers you), but it will blow friends and family away (which is always nice).

The sound is fine (if you get the 750 series it has a built-in woofer), the remote isn't perfect, but its no where near as bad as some of the reviews would lead you to believe.

It also handles standard definition TV very well (some LCDs don't look so hot). Its probably the best TV on the market as of right now, and it isn't overly expensive, if you are struggling to decide, just click BUY NOW, you won't be disappointed.

I just love this TV. It doesn't matter what show is on HD, but the colors are vibrant and the 50,000:1 contrast ration really shows. Golly, the 120Hz frame refresh feature makes people look real and the flow is really smooth. I am just waiting for the NFL season to start to watch the games in HD. The remote however is still sucks, but I corrected my problem by getting a universal remote.

I had been researching (stalking) the Samsung 71 series for about 7 months as I thought that had the best picture I had seen. Well it was, until this model came out. I have the original firmware and have not had a reset but when I do I will just upgrade the firmware so that issue has been taken care of. This set is amazing. My girlfriend and her brother are definitely not videophiles by any means and when they first saw the picture they both said, "I don't even know what to say. I can't imagine a better picture." Her brother even said, "I know you told me that you were getting a new tv but I never expected this." Yes, it is that good. It is a little bright out of the box but after applying CNET's settings it looks awesome. The AMP feature on this tv might not be for everyone (I love it and usually watch everything but movies on high and I usually watch movies on low or medium) but even with it off the 120hz refresh rate helps reduce motion blur. This is huge for sports. I have

Samsung 46" 1080p 120Hz Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I purchased the LN46A650 on April 25. It was delivered to me by CEVA a few days later. Since I was at work that day, the delivery people called me way ahead of time, so I could take off from work, and meet them at my house. They communicated with me from their cell phone in their truck.
The two guys that delivered the set were just great. They carefully
carried it into my house, unpacked the set, and placed it into my cabinet,
carefully. Before this, they carried away my old projection TV clunker
and into another room. What great service! These guys were very polite
and the whole thing was a great experience. The set was turned on by them
in order to make sure it worked properly.
I have allways been worried about purchasing something like this on the internet, BUT, thanks to the excellence of AMAZON.COM, I had nothing
to worry about. They are simply the best. I probably saved close to $1000.
And the TV set, what can I say, it is absolutely amazing,
possibly the best quality for the money

Samsung 46" 1080p 120Hz Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I purchased this model shortly after it was first available from Amazon upgrading my older Phillips 55" rear projection 1080i capable TV. I have now owned it for a month. I've used it with basic (non-HD) cable, basic Tivo viewing (again, non-HD), upscaled DVD viewing, HD-DVD viewing, and blu-ray viewing. I've paired it with a Yamaha 3000 soundbar. My entertainment watching has never been better.

Like many people I did a lot of research before dropping this kind of money on a new TV and, also like many people, it eventually came down to the Samsung TV or one of the Sony XBRs. IMO these are the only competitive mid-range/high end flatscreens to consider for purchase. Because of the Burn in issue (which is not as bad as it was in earlier generation Plasmas) I never considered a plasma TV, though they are a little more inexpensive and often have at least as good a picture as the LCD TVs.

As you've probably read outside of the several hundred dollar premimum for the Sony brand, the

I love this TV. The picture is so much brighter than my old Toshiba DLP - I can even watch it in bright sunlight without closing the blinds. This TV has a red-tinted bezel, which some may not like but I think it looks sharp. The screen is slightly glossy, which I find appealing. 120Hz means that it supports 5:5 pulldown, so if you have a compatible blu-ray player such as the ps3, you can watch movies without dropped frames. I wasn't sure if 46" would be big enough, but it fits perfectly in my mid-sized living room.

This TV is a little expensive, but the price is dropping all the time. It also makes other TVs look dull, so prepare to cringe when you go to a friends house. :)

A great TV - a little pricey, but well worth it. If you want to see how it looks before you buy, check it out at a local electronics store. They will usually let you play with all the settings so you can determine if it meets your needs.

Now that the random shut off's is fixed, this TV is now perfect.

WHy this is better than the samsung XX71 series
* AMP (auto motion plus) is smoother, eliminates TBE (triple ball effect) for the most part
* TV actually appers to be sharper
* Better blacks
* Faster LCD screen (4ms)
* NO stutter or jutter at all

JUST BUY IT. This is the BEST 120 hz tv on the market.

I would recomend the samsung 7 series, same specs but with a woofer for audio.

Samsung 46" 1080p 120Hz Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
Just as an FYI, Samsung has issued a firmware update that is available via their home website that fixes the off/on issue mentioned in another review. I have been using this TV for over two weeks now, since the update which was released on 4/9/08, I have had ZERO issues with this unit. The picture is FANTASTIC, probably the most clear HDTV that I have seen on the market to date. The 120 Hz makes the biggest difference of all. Don't get me wrong, I have been a faithful fan of SONY for years and I never thought anyone would be able to match the performance of their HDTV products or steer me away from being a faithful customer. My brother even purchased the XBR5 series of the 46 inch and is NOW looking to sell it so that he can switch to the Samsung LN46A650.
2 years ago there would have been no choice for me between the two, but now I can see that Samsung is finally giving Sony a run for their money. Hands down, for now anyway, Samsung is clearly the best choice to go with when it comes

Samsung 46" 1080p 120Hz Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I want to say first off that I have only had this TV for a short period, but so far I have NOT had the problem reported by some where the TV turns itself off. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I agree with the other reviewers that the picture is AMAZING. I am also happy to see that Samsung has added a 4th HDMI port. I was initially concerned that the "Touch Of Color" might clash with my decor, but it is very subtle especially if you mount the TV inside a cabinet. The "Infolink" feature is cute and easy to set up, but I don't see it as being extremely useful.

Now for some caveats. I purchased this TV right after setting up an LNT4661F for my inlaws, and I was quite surprised to realize that the A650 is missing several features from the 4661F, despite the A650 costing $650 more. For starters, the A650 does not have a rear S-video port (only one on the side). This is probably not a big deal for most people, but if you are still using an S-VHS VCR you're in trouble. More of a concern to me

Samsung 46" 1080p 120Hz Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I just got my TV last Friday and it is everything that I have expected. Unlike the first reviewer on this site, I have not experienced the overheating issues (fingers crossed). If you read his review he did admit the TV was great until that started happening. I just hope I don't get the same issue.

On to my review:
I spent over a year and a half researching flat panels. I came close to purchasing a Samsung 71F series, but when the salesman told me that new 2008 models were coming out in March, I decided to hold and do more research on those models. I almost purchased the 5 series, but when I found out that it does not have 120hz refresher rate, I decided to research the 6 series and ended buying the 46A650.

I briefly looked at the 7 series, but when I found out the only difference between the two was that the 7 series has a USB port for your MP3 player and 1 GB of cache, I figured it was not for me. I use a dock connected to my receiver when I play my MP3, so to me that was

:: 5 MINUTES AFTER POSTING THIS REVIEW THE TV RESTARTED BY ITSELF. IT SEEMS EVERY SET OUT NOW HAS THIS PROBLEM.:::

WAITING for you samsung!::

Prior to picking this TV up I had 2 of the 71 series televisions. Both of them had problems concerning a flicker as well as a some dim pixel clusters under the screen. I still had my last 71 under the 30 day policy so i returned it for this years new model: the 650A.

The Tv itself is beautiful. The hint of red is very subdued yet adds a nice touch when you get up close. A warning about the screen, it is glossy. If your room is well lit and you get distracted by reflections, this is not for you. The benefit of the glossy screen is more vibrant colors and contrast. SO for most its worth the glare to have a beautiful picture when you close the blinds. Though in daylight I don't have a problem at all watching it, but its optimal in dark.

The remote is interesting. It has an Ipod inspired turn wheel in the middle of the remote that is super touchy.

Samsung 46" 1080p 120Hz Flat-Panel LCD HDTV
I have had a 40" Sony (V2500) for over a year, and it's great. I wanted my second HDTV to have a larger screen and a faster pixel response to address the motion issue. This Samsung seemed to have everything I was looking for in an upgrade - larger screen, more HDMI 1.3 ports, a USB port (for thumb drive slide shows), plus the 4ms pixel response, the 120 MHz processor, and color improvements clinched it. I always thought Samsung was a quality alternative to Sony, but I don't anymore. The picture was spectacular and the color more natural just like the advertising said, but on the 4th day the TV suddenly shut off for no reason and then turned itself back on about 3 seconds later. This happened 4-5 times in 3 hours. When I googled the problem, I got many hits about the same problem in a number of Samsung TVs. It may be an overheating problem, a fan not working, or a bad sensor like some people guess, but after only 4 days I wasn't putting up with that. I returned it to Best Buy and
