Sony KDL40W3000 40" BRAVIA W Series Widescreen LCD Flat Panel HDTV
I bought this tv about 3 days ago, and it is going back. The picture from 85 to 95 degrees is terrific, blacks levels are great. But then when I moved out side of this ideal viewing angle, the contrast and color saturation dropped swiftly and considerably. Unless you want to subject your friends and family who are not in the 'pole position' viewing spot to watch a washed-out, sub-par picture, you will not buy this tv. If it will be only you watching the tv, from dead-on center, then get it.

Sony KDL40W3000 40" BRAVIA W Series Widescreen LCD Flat Panel HDTV
I did extensive research before pulling the trigger on this model. I ended up choosing between Samsung and Sony. I went with the Sony bc of glare issues that supposedly accompany Samsung models. That was in issue for me bc the set will be in a bright room with big bay windows. I'm glad to report that I do not have any glare problems with my Bravia.

Once, I decided to go with Sony, I was struggling to decide if I could spend the extra money for the XBR. The auto motion feature sounded compelling to me because I watch a lot of sports. However, I just couldn't justify spending that much extra money. I'm glad I didn't. I've had my w3000 for 3 weeks now. I've watched the NCAAs, Hockey, and baseball. All of the action looks amazing. I've seen absolutely no ghosting or triple action effect that I've heard about.

Bottom line, it is hard for me to imagine a better picture. This set is a no brainer. And the Amazon price is $200-300 cheaper than best buy.

All I can say, IS; There is NO better 'color/picture' quality for ANY!{period!},ANY!, HDTV than Sony!.That is a fact.
There are 4 different picture frames you can set to fit your veiwing source ; DVD, "WideZoom','Normal','Zoom', and 'Standard', depending on the DVD /VHS/WHATEVER!,your watching... Connection is an ease, and I DO recommend S VIDEO cable, or heavier cable..
You will LOVE this set!; Picture Quality above all!, but also ease of set-up, built in surround, and last note. It is rated #2 BEST ,{out of 36 monitors tested! for 40 inch sets} in 'Consumer Reports'. {I'm sure that will make some 'nastys' grumble! :}
Just buy it.!!!!!!!!! God Bless

Sony KDL40W3000 40" BRAVIA W Series Widescreen LCD Flat Panel HDTV
i searched for well over a month comparing lcd to plasma to find out the best quality for the picture quality and settled on SONY'S KDL-40W3000. when you plug this baby in for the first time and watch a blu-ray movie you will be blown away. i recommend trying BBC's series Planet Earth on blu-ray first. the colors are so vibrant and saturated, i thought i was looking through a glass window. the 16,000 to 1 dynamic contrast ratio really shows. it blows some plasma tv's ive seen at a much higher price away, really. don't settle for the KDL-40V2500. it doesn't compare. this has more then twice the contrast ratio, 24p true frame output and picture in picture. it does suffer from motion lag as most lcd do when it come to fast motion scenes but you don't really notice it unless the motion is horizontal and really fast. if you want to spend a few bucks more, i recommend getting the XBR4 or XBR5 series with 120 FRC. this will eliminate the horizontal motion lag. i wish i did LOL. very satified with

Sony KDL40W3000 40" BRAVIA W Series Widescreen LCD Flat Panel HDTV
We had a 32 inch Sony KDL2500, a very nice LCD as LCD's go, we wanted a 40 inch LCD and purchased the 40W3000 to replace the 32 in a media room.
This TV's purpose is multifold for use as a TV, Games Xbox/PS3, PC, and Movies in HD through both the Xbox/PS3, hence the 1080P
First I must state, that after viewing the Pats/Chargers Game in HD on 20 Jan on both my Pioneer Elite 50 Inch Plasma and this TV that anyone can say anything they want but Plasma still rules for absolute picture quality and total viewability. I think LCD has made HUGE leaps as far as picture quality goes, but the same issues remain that have always been, picture subject to viewing angle, picture wash out, sharpness/detail, dull blacks. I suppose its subjective and if you aren't A/B comparing a 50 inch Elite to the almost top of the Line LCD from Sony you may not notice. But, for me I have always noticed it with the 32 inch, and after seeing the TV at Circuit City I thought when I got it home the picture would rival

Sony KDL40W3000 40" BRAVIA W Series Widescreen LCD Flat Panel HDTV
I purchased the Sony KDL 40w3000 a couple months ago and have loved it since day one. It was easy to assemble and with the help of a mount, now sits comfortably on my living room wall.

I currently connect a PlayStation 3 to the television, and it delivers an amazing picture. Both DVDs (upscaled on the PS3) and Blu-ray Discs look beautiful. The Planet Earth Series on Blu-Ray consistently leaves me slack jawed and drooling.

I compared the 40w3000's picture quality to Sharp and Samsung LCD screens and Panasonic Plasma displays. I do not have any particular brand loyalties, and I found the Sony to have the best, brightest, most vibrant image. Additionally, my appreciation for the 40w3000's clean styling and brushed metal finish continues to grow. Its simplicity does not distract from the viewed image, and its understated elegance fits nicely in my living room.

All in all, this television produces a stunning image and houses it in a beautiful casing. The three HDMI inputs are appreciated.

This 40" Sony Bravia is even better than my 26" Sony Bravia. All high def productions thru my cable provider are all that I could ask for! Delivery was just when it was promised. Even the wrappings were taken away! The price could not be touched by my area stores, no delivery charges, and no state taxes!
What a deal on a great product! Thanks !

Sony KDL40W3000 40" BRAVIA W Series Widescreen LCD Flat Panel HDTV
The Sony Bravia W-Series is so versatile and user friendly as well. The picture quality is superior, vivid, vibrant, natural color as stated, and absolutely no reflection or ghost image like the XBR2. The XBR4 with FHD 120 Hz high frame rate capability might corrects this problem but I have not experience this problem with the W-Series so far. The contrast ratio isn't important to me since there is no standard way of measuring this technology. The W-Series has 16000:1 contrast ratio, which it's too bright for viewing over period of time and adds pressure on the eyes if you are within 5 feet of range. However, the Bravia technology is great with 10 bit 64x deep color 16:9 full 1080 beyond HD plus smooth color transition, 24p true natural cinematic motion and its' live color creation system with WCG-CCFL backlight which I don't think nothing comes close besides the Samsung LNT-Series as in this price range.

Our family has been with Sony for their quality television over the century and there

Sony KDL40W3000 40" BRAVIA W Series Widescreen LCD Flat Panel HDTV
After much research we bought this TV in September 2007 for our den. We have been a Sony TV fan and this one kept upto our expectations or much more. The HD picture clarity is so good and life like ( movies or sceneries)that we wish that we bought a much bigger size.As expected, this TV has to be connected with HDMI cables for best picture quality. The viewing angle is very good. If one spends a few minutes with the manual,it is very user friendly. While the inbuilt speakers are fairly good, we recommend surround speakers to get the best sound experience for the picture quality.
Overall, we are immensely satisfied this product.
As always, the order placement, execution and the whiteglove delivery as promised by Amazon was excellent.

Sony KDL40W3000 40" BRAVIA W Series Widescreen LCD Flat Panel HDTV
I've been living with my 40W series for a month so far and while I agree with the generally positive reviews posted, a few qualifications are in order.

1. The picture quality when hooked up to analog sources is worse than with an analog tv. This is true for all HDTVs, but be prepared for this. When I first set this TV up, I had it hooked to my Dish Network non-hdtv receiver and the picture quality was poor. Now I have a Dish Network 722 hidef receiver and the picture quality is excellent on the HD channels and very good on the standard channels. I also have an xbox360 with the hidef dvd player attached, picture quality is awesome on these. Just remember to set your xbox360 options to hidef output.

2. When the picture is relatively static the picture quality is awsome, however, this set like most all LCDs does not have a high refresh rate, so when there is a lot of movement on the screen you can notice a slight blurring. If this is not acceptable, go for a plasma.

3. The color

You really get what you pay for. I looked at the cheaper and lower Sony models and the resolution at 16000 is why I chose this one. I checked Best Buy and Ciruit City and they told me they match each others prices but can't compeate with Amazon. Worth the 5 day delivery wait saved $300.

First, I would like to say that this TV is a beauty. It's easy to setup. It took me around 10 minutes to set it up which include opening of the box, moving away all the styro foam, hauling it to the TV stand and connecting it with HDMI cables.
Second, I have Sony PSP and this TV's navigation's is very similar to the PSP. Hence, in order to navigate through the menu is a walk in the park. In addition, short cuts on the remote is good enough for me.
Third, Crisp Picture (stripe test). I almost bought Samsung LNT4065F. The Samsung has a reflective screen which makes it look really cool + it makes it look like a plasma. However, when the store showed a man with stripe shirt on the both screens, this Sony TV could show the stripe without any difficulties while the some stripes were combined into 1 stripe on the Samsung. That when I decided to pick this Sony over the Samsung. Btw, I also compared this TV with Sony KDL-40V2500. Crisp-wise, they looked the same however the picture on
