Philips Ear Bud Headphones - Black/Red
I just picked up there headphone at BB for than listed here. I bought them because the rubber around the original earbuds for my iPod were starting to have the rubber peal away making them feel uncomfortable and was just overall annoying. I was looking for something in the $20-$30 dollar range and locally these fit the bill nicely.

Pros :
- Sound quality (really really good!)
- Way better than standard iPod earbuds
- Affordable

Cons :
- Not great for exercise
- Questionable durability
- Annoying cable length

First let me talk about the design. Upon opening I immediately thought that the asymmetric wire length was going to be ... different, and the overall durability was questionable. The asymmetric length wire does bother me a bit, I simply have to use the extension cord (supplied) to have my iPod in my pocket, and since I am mostly using these at work I do not notice any discomfort from it outside of the inconvenience of having extra wire. I have noticed that

I have a pair of Bose IEs and THOUGHT they were the "cat's meow." They are, indeed, very good--but they are also just shy of $100. ENTER the Philips SHE9500/37's bought to BACK the Bose up "just in case." Well, the backups may be AT LEAST as good as the "first string."

If you compare these two headphones, you need to put the volume at EXACTLY the same point. The Philips are FAR more efficient, so if you simply put one unit on and then the other, you may FIRST think that the Bose are smoother. They are simply SOFTER. Try these Philips on a regular stereo with a large jack adapter and you will be amazed.

I have been following the reviews on headphones in Amazon.com and am CONVINCED that too many of them are being made too-quick or are being made by people who "don't get it" before they put a product down. Another possibility is that the reviews get "polluted" by young, inexperienced reviewers who simply don't know what they have. How is it logical for one reviewer to say a product

Philips Ear Bud Headphones - Black/Red
I had the Sony's in my hand and then thought "I'll sacrifice a bit of sound quality for the cheaper price of the Philips." Man I wish I hadn't been a cheapskate! I tried all three sized rubber pieces atleast twice fiddeling with them and fiddeling with them and fiddeling with them and never got any kind of comfortable fit out of them. As soon as I thought I had something I'd move(ever so slightly) and they'd slip right out of my ear. The design is terrible and the weight from the plug where the extender cord fits constantly pulls on the buds in your ear. There's no mid range what so ever! Lots and lots of trebble and if you do manage to get them pushed in the bass completely takes over everything. This poses a new problem. The sound valume is set at such a low default that you have to turn it up quite a bit to even hear the music and by the time you get it loud enough you start to hear the speakers rattling. Please don't be like me and think that you can save some money on these,
